Presence matters

February 10, 2015

We’ve all met people (often leaders) who just seem to have that special something that distinguishes them from the crowd. And oftentimes that special something is simply…leadership presence. They look and act, and even feel confident, competent, powerful, and self-assured. They look like leaders.

While strong leadership presence alone is by no means the only requirement for advancing as a leader, recent research does show that one reason women are under-represented at the senior leadership level is that they are “just not seen as leaders” or “lack executive presence.” And that’s where Linkage partners Kate Nugent of The Ariel Group and Amy Cuddy of Harvard University can help.

Kate is an expert in helping women develop the foundational skills and behaviors of executive presence. She’s identified practical strategies women can use to show up and communicate with more power and impact.

Watch her recent webinar The Power of Presence.

Meanwhile, as you can see in the video below, Amy Cuddy, Harvard Associate Professor and member of the keynote faculty at our upcoming Leadership Summit for Women in Academic Medicine and Healthcare, has some very simple suggestions to improve how you “show up” as a leader (and in life) in some very powerful ways.
