Linkage Announces 2012 Recipients of Warren Bennis Award for Excellence in Leadership

June 28, 2012

We are proud to announce that Pulitzer Prize winner Doris Kearns Goodwin and best-selling author Tom Peters have been named 2012 recipients of the Warren Bennis Award for Excellence in Leadership, given annually during Linkage’s Global Institute for Leadership Development (GILD), which will be held October 14-19th in Palm Desert, CA.

The Warren Bennis Award for Excellence in Leadership was created in honor of GILD co-chair Warren Bennis. The award honors the courage, endurance, capability, and success of each recipient and highlights them as an inspiration and a role model for current and aspiring leaders around the world.

“This year we are proud to honor Doris Kearns Goodwin and Tom Peters,” says GILD Program Manager Ashley Wollam. “Doris’ work as an internationally-renowned presidential historian has brought to life the leadership lessons of several of America’s chief executives. Tom has been recognized by Fortune as the “ur-guru” of management and has contributed volumes to the study and the practice of management and leadership.”

Doris and Tom join the likes of Howard Schultz, CEO, Starbucks; Mikhail Gorbachev, former President, Soviet Union; Betsy Holden, former CEO, Kraft Foods in North America; Benazir Bhutto, Former Prime Minister of Pakistan; and Geoffrey Canada, CEO of Harlem’s Children’s Zone, in a select group of leaders who have received the award over its 13 year history.
