Have you ever gone through a personal transformation, or heard a story of someone else’s? What about an “Aha!” moment, or an eye-opening self-discovery that makes you choke up with the impact of a new awareness? In an instant, to have the stream of self-realization flow throughout your body, a physiological experience like no other where you know you have changed forever – the feeling is almost indescribable, and it is certainly incomparable. The best part of my job is hearing hundreds of stories like that from GILD alumni – it never gets old. But it’s not the same to listen to someone else’s story! It always makes me want my own!
Over the last few months, I have had the opportunity to work on one of the greatest projects of my life, my very first (and Linkage’s 14th) Global Institute for Leadership Development. Because of stories such as these, I am convinced that GILD will resonate stronger each year with the passion of six thousand alumni, and I have begun to understand the impact that GILD has had on leaders and organizations around the world. You need to witness the commitment to this leadership development program that is possessed by our faculty – our speakers, our coaches, and our learning team leaders. Every faculty member has dedicated their time, energy, and skills to producing the best possible experience for each of this year’s GILD participants. I am writing to make sure you are not missing out. You owe it to yourself.
With each passing week, our new website has grown with lessons in leadership from this year’s speakers, such as excerpts from Mitch Albom’s new book and a webinar with Patrick Lencioni. The collection of free resources alone make the site worth visiting, which I encourage you to do; but I also want you to uncover a passion of your own, a topic to converse with us on, and something to investigate further. Where and when will your transformation begin?
I can sense the increase in excitement as the 2010 Global Institute for Leadership Development approaches. Many of our clients have registered their leaders, who have started their online profiles, initiated their 360-degree assessments, and selected their coaches for what promises to be one of the greatest personal development experiences of their careers. For some, they have the counsel of previous years’ alumni, perhaps a mentor in the experience or an opportunity to leverage the GILD transformation within an organization. For others, they feel the same sense of excitement that is building within me – approaching my very first GILD.
Our goal is to impact the lives of more leaders, and our mission is to build better leaders, because better leaders produce better results. Isn’t it time for you to become a better leader?
