Elizabeth Gilbert’s piece in the Huffington Post is a candid story about how we, as women, are often our own worst enemy. (Sounds familiar, right?) Simply put, we believe that we are not doing enough.
This message and the timing of the story’s release couldn’t be better. It got me thinking about our Women in Leadership Institute™ and the unique opportunity that we have to equip women with the knowledge and inspiration they need to step in and lead their best life. I’m beaming with pride about this event and how our company literally helps transform people’s lives. I was even prouder when we got word on Friday that it has sold out.
I have to admit, I’m not surprised.
I’m not surprised because even though I’ve had the privilege of attending this remarkable event multiple times, the experience still evolves how I think about how I show up as a colleague, teammate, friend, wife and daughter a little bit more each time. It’s about so much more than leadership.
It’s about pressing pause, pushing the daily routine aside, and thinking about how to lead a more fulfilling life. It’s about challenging yourself to show up in new and different ways—in the company of other high-potential women who have the same worries and concerns (trust me, it’s true!) as you.
It’s about asking yourself big (and intimidating!) questions like: What ignites my passion as a leader? How do I show up as a teammate, boss, colleague, partner, wife and friend? What is work-life balance for me? And what on earth does “having it all” really mean?
I couldn’t be more excited to experience this journey alongside 700 other high-potential women next week, and to commit to my own personal mission in 2016. I’m also eager to see incredible women like Judy Smith, Bertice Berry, and Susan Brady (among others) take the stage in Phoenix. They will challenge me to think about my purpose, get clear on what I want and how to ask for it—and to step in—in every way possible—to lead my very best life. Past experience tells me that this opportunity will, without a doubt, lead to my what’s next.
