Former President of Ecuador, Jamil Mahuad visits Linkage Headquarters

August 8, 2011

Former President of Ecuador and Women in Leadership Institute session leader, Jamil Mahuad had lunch last week with Senior Vice President of Global Programs, Susan Brady at the Linkage headquarters.

During his presidency from 1998-2000, Jamil ended the longest standing international military conflict in the Western Hemisphere—and signed a definite Peace Treaty with neighbor Peru.

Jamil will discuss Conflict Resolution at the Institute, taking place November 13-16. Participants of the sessions will understand the skills and models that helped him manage the conflict when he led the “Peace Process” between Peru and Ecuador and will develop a better understanding of how to harness strong emotions to get to the best outcome.

Jamil is a contributing author of Beyond Reasons: Using Emotions as You Negotiate. His unique approach is to teach both the theories on negotiation from such seminal works as Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without  Giving In while bringing these skills to life by sharing powerful stories from his presidency.
