Do Talent Pipelines Need CEO Support?

A recent article in Talent Management, titled The CEO’s Role in Talent by Ladan Nikravan discusses how “managing a company’s talent pool is too great a task to be left solely to the human resources department. CEOs must take responsibility.”  Talent management is driven from the top and then delegated to human resource (HR) departments for execution.  Is your company structured this way?

According to PricewaterhouseCoopers’ recent Global CEO Survey, 68 percent of CEOs wish they could spend more time developing their talent pipelines. Finding and hiring the right talent, and retaining current talent are top issues. Employee engagement is at the forefront of retaining employees—merging business strategy and engagement helps companies create workforces that are aligned with and buy into the organization’s strategic plan according to Ed Boswell, Principal and Leader at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
