This year’s Talent & Organization Development Institute™ was a great experience. We kicked off the Institute in Chicago last week with innovator Jeremy Gutsche, and closed out the three-day event with the always engaging and motivating Dan Pink. I was thrilled to attend the Institute in a marketing role to gather as much content as possible for our online community and to learn from the talented line up of speakers. As I sit here and reflect on my time in Chicago, there are four key take-aways that come to mind:
- Invest in a talent management and acquisition system (if you aren’t planning for the future now you’ll be sorry soon)
- Take care of the real human gold in the organization: the high potentials who aren’t on the top team (yet)
- Create an engaged workforce: connect purpose and activity [In the words of Dan Pink: “Autonomy, Mastery, and Purpose”]
- Build an organizational learning capacity (people want to grow and develop, as well as help others grow and develop)
Now, it’s your turn. We are interested in hearing your feedback….what insights did you walk away with?
