Several of our team members from Fierce attended Linkage’s Organizational Development (OD) Summit last month in Chicago. Since the event, we have reflected on our time at the conference and the connections between organizational development and learning development (LD).
Three of our VP’s saw Chris Agyris receive his lifetime achievement award, and learned about his Single, Double and Triple Loop Learning research. The connections between Chris Agyris’s work and what Fierce’s founder, Susan Scott, laid out in her book Fierce Conversations are very strong. Our Fierce Conversations training aligns with Chris Agyris in understanding the important role context plays in achieving the coveted stage that is Triple Loop Learning.
Our Fierce Conversations training can only be successful if people are processing at the Triple Loop Learning stage. A way we strive to get our attendees to this stage of learning is to give them a practical skill set so they can constantly stay in this stage of learning. One way we let our attendee’s experience Triple Loop Learning is by practicing the 4 Objectives of a Fierce Conversation: Interrogate Reality, Provoke Learning, Tackle Tough Challenges and Enrich Relationships.
“Great leaders, great coaches, great colleagues engineer epiphanies by engaging people’s heads and hearts”
-Susan Scott, Fierce Conversations
The connection with the topics at Linkage’s Organization Development Summit excites us, and we look forward to Susan Scott presentation at Linkage’s Global Institute for Leadership Development, October 9-14 in Palm Desert, California. For more information, click here.
