BOSTON, Mass: Linkage, a leading provider of strategic leadership development solutions, has announced that businessman, philanthropist and NBA Hall of Famer Earvin “Magic” Johnson will join them at the Global Institute for Leadership Development® (GILD) October 5–7, 2020, in Palm Desert, California.
Magic Johnson has become one of the most successful African American businessmen in the world. He is a Major League Baseball owner, NBA legend, two-time Hall of Famer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and motivational speaker. The business mogul has successfully parlayed his skills and tenacity on the court into the business world, propelling his company to the status of #1 Brand in Urban America.
Linkage’s Global Institute for Leadership Development (GILD) is one of the premier leadership development conferences in the world. This three-day immersive leadership development experience is designed for high-potential leaders eager to explore new ways to optimize and accelerate their full leadership potential.
“We are very excited to announce that Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson will be joining us on the main stage at GILD,” said Kristen Howe, Chief Product Officer at Linkage. “Magic is a Purposeful Leader in every sense—inspiring his teams, organization, community and the world to achieve great things.”
Based on Linkage’s Purposeful Leadership® Model, GILD introduces participants to the five Purposeful Leadership commitments—Inspire, Engage, Innovate, Achieve and Become—that when consistently applied on the job, translate into 2x more revenue growth, 4x more net profit and 9x more employee engagement.
“The Global Institute for Leadership Development offers leaders an unparalleled opportunity to supercharge their personal leadership journey,” said Howe. “GILD combines small-group learning with keynote presentations from some of the hottest names in leadership for a truly immersive learning experience.”
Magic’s unprecedented Starbucks partnership served as the catalyst for redevelopment in urban communities and is literally the blueprint for corporate America’s engagement and success with urban consumers. In 2010, the savvy businessman divested his Starbucks and Los Angeles Lakers shares in excess of $100 million dollars. However, he will continue to assist Starbucks with their community development initiatives and will remain vice president of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Magic will join Nando Parrado, author and survivor of the 1972 Andes plane crash, as well as Jennifer McCollum, CEO of Linkage, on the main stage. More speakers will continue to be announced at www.linkageinc.com/GILD.
