Dana Gaines-Robinson
How often we read about the need for OD, HR and Learning functions to be strategic and business linked. To become strategically integrated into the organization is an aspirational goal for most practitioners. But what is a strategic function? What characteristics separate it from a function that is tactical in its approach? Designing a function to be strategic requires consideration of four key elements. Dana Robinson will discuss these elements providing both examples of successes as well as landmines to avoid. In this interactive session, you will have an opportunity to assess the ‘current state’ of your function as compared to these requirements. You will leave with clarity on what actions (if any) are needed to ensure your function is positioned to be seriously strategic in its work and role.
Dana Robinson is a recognized leader in the area of performance technology and strategic human resource design. For 27 years, as President and Founder of Partners in Change, Inc., she assisted HR, Learning and OD functions to transition from a traditional and tactical approach to one that is strategic and results-focused. Clients for these services have included The Coca-Cola Company, AstraZeneca, Macy’s and Genentech. Dana has worked globally, with assignments that have taken her to Europe, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific.
Together with her husband, Jim Robinson, Dana co-authored six books including Strategic Business Partner (2005) and Performance Consulting: Second Edition (2008). Books by the Robinsons have been selectively translated into 17 languages. Dana has been acknowledged for her work by several organizations including ASTD (Distinguished Contribution Award for Workplace Learning and Performance) and ISA (Thought Leadership Award).
In 2008, the Robinsons sold their intellectual property to Exemplary Performance (EP), a consulting practice led by Dr. Paul Elliott. EP is now the sole distributor of the proprietary performance consulting and strategic partnering content and services developed by the Robinsons. Dana will continue to provide services, on a selective basis, through her partnership with EP. |
