FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jack Welch to Address Global Audience on Leadership and Change in Distance Learning Program

LEXINGTON, MASS. (January 28, 2002) - Legendary former General Electric CEO, Jack Welch, will address today's critical leadership, management, and transformation issues to an estimated corporate audience of 5,000 worldwide, on March 19, 2002.

Jack Welch's presentation is one of four addresses comprising Linkage, Inc.'s Excellence in Management & Leadership 2002 broadcast series. During the 90-minute session, Welch will address challenges and answer questions e-mailed, called in, or faxed by broadcast participants. This broadcast series offers corporate training that is cutting-edge, interactive, geographically unbound, time efficient, and cost-effective. Distance learning is the one of the most effective training vehicles in which organizations can invest today.

Jack Welch's 20-year reign as the CEO of General Electric (GE) brought the company from bureaucratic behemoth to dynamic and revered powerhouse. During his tenure, GE's market value grew from $13 billion to $500 billion. In the process, Welch's management innovations have made him the most influential CEO of his era. Welch assumed the helm of GE in 1981, at which time he began making a series of controversial decisions and tough calls to transform the company. Part of that transformation was to make GE a "people company" where ideas flourished and boundaries disappeared. Welch pressed his theory of a "boundaryless" culture in which all levels of the company participated in innovation and problem solving. He embraced four critical initiatives that served as cornerstones to GE's success: Globalization, Services, Six-Sigma, and e-Business. On September 7, 2001, following 20 years of "bringing good things to life" at GE, Jack Welch said goodbye to the company and its people, who have constituted the pinnacle of his business career. On March 19, 2002, Jack Welch will provide his insights on management and organizational transformation, as well as shed light on his personal leadership experiences, to corporate audiences around the world, live via interactive satellite broadcast by Linkage, Inc.
